EoE only triggers when creatures are below 90% health.
Test with Disease if you're uncertain on their species.

I haven't used EoE to great effect, but as long as you are careful it shouldn't be a problem. One problem is it's not a good idea if you are taking minions, since they're always dying and <90% hp.
I find it fitting irony that this skill is being discussed at the final quest to protect Salma's life. If you grew up in Prophecies like me, you first "meet" Salma with a quest that rewards this skill.

I meant it as a humorous coincidence that I wasn't expecting. We can leave semantics aside though, can't we? It was very interesting to me.

Interesting yes, but just as interesting as remembering where on Ascalon you picked up a skill from! Far too many skills, bosses and locations for me to remember that
Anyway, y'all can rest easy, I finished it at last.
Personally I think I was right, of course, heh. Several more tries, and in between each I would check for BLA parties. Well I had to wait till 2 AM (which will make my work today interesting..) but someone finally popped up for the battle.
First try, two actual people, 4 heroes, no consumables and we did it first go.
We did get pushed back to the throne room, and died a few times, and still made it.
Just goes to show, the henchies are bloody awful. AI fail, lack of skills available by Lions Arch, level 10.. I dunno which it is, but not using them is the best choice by far. Hell once I went in with just 3 heroes and still got to the end two groups of jade cloaks. Coincidently the same place I got to on hard mode also.
Thus, our party did it with:
Me: Sav Heat AoE ele, Healers Boon monk, Spiteful Spirit Necro, Signet of Spirits Rit and
Him: Balthazar dervish, Panic mesmer
Moral of the story, find another person! (even if it means working on 5 hours sleep)

Oh come on! People have been complaining that there's not enough challenges in the game and when there finally comes a true challenge you complain about the level of difficulty?? This is ridiculous!
Not to mention: Omg it's really not that hard! If you can find just 1 other skilled person with heroes, then you're good to go, assumming you have a plan instead of just waltzing in like some idiot.
Hell if you're good at using you heroes and have a strategic mind, then you can even do it with just heroes o.0 I myself haven't been able to do that, but I know someone who has. He placed a ranger and a monk on top of the cliff where the ranger could do extra damage with his Splinter Weapon/barrage and altitude bonus, while the monk could stay in relative safety and heal the ones who held out below, which was his MM hero and himself (dervish tank) and a summoned Ooze. While this was extremely difficult and took a while, he ended up completing it, with just 4 party members!
Well moving on from this story (I'm still stunned at the feat lol), it proves that it's possible to do.

People need to stop bringing bs like this up. Not everyone wanted PvE to be harder, much like not everyone wanted Mesmers to be powercreeped. It only makes sense that the people who didn't support it and found evidence as to why it causes problems will come back and complain about it. That makes this complaint of yours ridiculous.

I've only done Riverside Assassination so far (coming back from running out of WoW money again) and it was rough. One wipe H/Hing because of level 15 henches. Then hired a player who brought a hero, and it went pretty smoothly. One death at the Ether Seal but we figured it out.
Not a fan of over-challenging things myself, though. Trying to find non-suck people wastes time and patience. I've H/H'd most of the game several times by now and don't like pigeonholed into playing with people that will ruin everything.
Yes, it's an MMO. But I use that aspect for discussion, guilds, and alliances.

The problem with that is, when people complained that PvE was too easy and should be harder, none of you guys stepped up to defend it.
There is no pleasing everyone, but you people who want PvE to be easier need to be more vocal if you want your needs to be met.

I'm not saying PvE buffs didn't cause this, but sure as heck they're not going to be reverted, so you might as well accept it.

Well i was having real trouble making this quest, than i read this topic and found usefull info. Panic mesmer rly kicks ass in this quest. I was already a barrage ranger. The group: a resonable tank warrior, a reasonable (but kinda suicidal) SS necro, 2 splinter/barrage rangers (me and another good one), mesmer hero (panic + other area comination spells), healer hero. it worked on the 1st try, but we wiped like 3 times, mostly because the SS necro was always in the front, sometimes ahead of the tank, which wasnt very helpful.

Done it with a PuG
My War was using Defy/GDA and supported by a player monk/rit
It's absolutely HILARIOUS watching all the 0s on your screen followed by the splinter barrage proceeding to tear apart everyone agroed on you.
Also, playing the Samurai Sentai Shinkenger opening theme during it makes it feel extra epic.

Lol enough Tokusatsu nerding.
The mission was incredibly fun, I imagine the next part of beyond will deal with the search for Thackeray, unless the team want to add in bits showing the outcomes of Kisu and Joko.

I thought the mission itself was fun, but I generally agree with the OP. They seem a bit too hard, and if you're trying to play them solo - which seems to be the direction the game is trying to go, it's more or less impossible.

It's not impossible to complete this with heroes and henchmen. There's no such thing as "more or less impossible." I've completed BLA along with all of WiK H/H, and so have a number of other posters in this thread. I'll grant that it is definitely challenging, but then it is an end game Difficulty: Master quest.
It is extremely annoying that the henchmen are so weak, but they make fair meat sacks for minions.
Screen:
Essence, Grail, summon (Juggernaut from a mysterious summon), and rainbow canes used. Rit and mesmer bar were thrown together and they were not properly equipped. I don't play either class. Team wiped once when the Jade or Musaat showed up; I forget. I believe it was Perfected Armor's group that wrecked us.
